While traveling, find the best restaurants & hiking trails. While at home, find the best recipes
Adventures on the Gorge is a hidden West Virginia gem. I originally discovered it on a road trip from Michigan to North Carolina. It is right off of the highway and was only about 15 minutes out of our way. My only regret is only staying for one night. From horse back riding, to white water rafting, It is truly the perfect getaway for both family and adult only trips!
It would take weeks to try all of the fun adventurous activities they have at Adventures on the Gorge. There is rock climbing, hiking, fishing, horse back riding, kayaking, repelling, zip lining, tree running, white water rafting, live music, restaurants, the list goes on and on. You are staying ON the gorge and there is even one spot where you can sit with a beer and enjoy the spectacular view.
Endless Wall Loop Trail: My favorite hike & it’s only about a 5 minute drive from Adventures on the Gorge. It is a pretty easy three mile hike that will allow you to see the very best views. Just BE CAREFUL when it comes to a couple of things – parking and exploring. If the parking lot is full, you will need to park on the side of the road. This is allowed, however, you need to make sure you are parked correctly. You can not have even one tire on the road or you WILL get towed! Cars are known to be towed on that road almost every single day. Also, while hiking – watch where you are walking! You are 876 feet high so make sure to watch where you’re walking!
There are a TON of camp sites and cabins to pick from at Adventures on the Gorge. We stayed in a two person cabin which fit us and our two dogs perfectly. There are also a few restaurants to pick from but when we went, only one was open – Chetty’s. The wait was LONG so plan accordingly. It is dog friendly, has great beer and yummy food.
I hope you get the chance to try out Adventures on the Gorge soon! You will most definitely not regret it.
